DIGITAL NOMADS
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗱?
A Digital Nomad is someone who works remote and travels to different locations while doing so. Often they are working on locations as coffee shops, libraries or co-working spaces, most of the time they go where there is Wi-Fi. Currently, there are over 35 million digital nomads. This group is made of a wide variety of people with different ages and jobs. The number of digital nomads is growing hard by the year. This has various reasons, for instance:
– Changing life and career values
– The growth of online talent marketplaces and digital nomad tour services
– The emergence of useful online information for both nomads and general travelers
– The rise of co-living and co-working spaces
– Rise in popularity of remote working due to Covid-19 pandemic
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗱
To live a life as a digital nomad, you need to be able to work location-independently. So it starts with having your own (online) business, working as a freelancer or a job where you can and do work remotely. So it’s really not just long life fun, because there is also money to be made. So before you can set off to travel the world with your laptop under your arm, you need to discover what kind of work suits you that you can also do remotely. And once you know that, you need to find or create that dream job, start a business or bring in clients as a freelancer. Very important is that you do what really makes you happy. A stupid job does not suddenly become fun if you perform it from a tropical destination. So basically, it starts with finding the right job for you. After all, digital nomad in itself is not a profession, it is a lifestyle. Jobs that combine traveling and working well are, for example: web or software developer, programmer, graphic designer, marketing consultant, SEO specialist, blogger or vlogger, translator, writer, photographer, filmmaker, virtual assistant, coach or even customer service assistant. It won’t all come naturally, because those who really want to combine work and travel will simply have to work hard and also leave things for it.
